WebP to PNG Converter
Convert WebP images to PNG locally in your browser — no uploads, no quality loss.
How to use webp to png converter
- Click Choose file and pick one or more .webp images — or drag & drop them onto the dashed area. Up to 20 files per batch, each up to 25 MB.
- The converter decodes the files one by one (so it stays light on memory) and shows progress, a thumbnail and the size of each converted image.
- Download each PNG with its own Download button, or click Download all (.zip) to save the whole batch as a single ZIP file. With a single file, Download PNG saves it directly.
Examples
Convert a WebP downloaded from the web
Images saved from websites and chats often arrive as .webp files that older programs refuse to open. Pick one here and it becomes an ordinary PNG.
Prepare an image for an upload form that rejects WebP
Many job portals, government forms and admin panels accept only PNG or JPEG. Convert the WebP first, then attach the PNG to the form.
Edit a WebP in older software
Converting to PNG first lets you open the image in tools with no WebP support, edit it losslessly, and re-save in any format you like.
What is WebP to PNG?
WebP is a modern image format developed by Google that stores photos and graphics in noticeably smaller files than JPEG or PNG. Most websites now serve images as WebP because of that efficiency, which is why pictures you download, screenshot or receive in a chat are increasingly saved with a .webp extension even though the name is unfamiliar.
The catch is compatibility. Older versions of Photoshop, Office and many content-management systems still refuse to open WebP, some print shops and government upload forms accept only PNG or JPEG, and PNG remains the default format for lossless editing because every pixel is preserved exactly. Converting WebP to PNG solves all of that in one step.
Because PNG is lossless, the conversion does not degrade your image: every pixel of the WebP is written into the PNG exactly as decoded, including transparency. The only trade-off is a larger file, since PNG compression is less aggressive than WebP’s.
Everything happens on your own device. The file is read with the browser’s built-in decoder and written out locally — it is never uploaded to a server, so even private or unpublished images are safe to convert here.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting WebP to PNG lose quality?
No. PNG is a lossless format, so every pixel decoded from the WebP is written to the PNG exactly as-is. Any compression artifacts already inside a lossy WebP stay, but nothing new is added.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
Never. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using the built-in image decoder and canvas. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Yes. Pick or drag up to 20 WebP files at once and the converter works through them one by one, so it stays light on memory even on a phone. Each converted image gets its own download button, and Download all (.zip) packs the whole batch into a single ZIP file.
What happens to files over the limit?
A batch accepts up to 20 files, and each file can be at most 25 MB. Anything over the limit is skipped and the converter tells you which files those were — the remaining valid files are still converted as normal.
Why convert WebP to PNG at all?
PNG opens everywhere: older editing software, Office documents, print shops and upload forms that reject WebP all accept it. It is also the safest format for further lossless editing.
Will transparency be preserved?
Yes. WebP images with an alpha channel are converted to PNG with their transparency intact, so logos and cut-out graphics keep their see-through backgrounds.
